Dancer's Closet Brand Website & App

Connecting the Dance World

The Dancer's Closet is a self-invented digital platform to connect the dance world. It features a marketplace for selling dancewear and a Meta/LinkedIn-style hub for dancers to connect, promote themselves and find work. I acted as both copywriter and art/UX designer to create the app and website.

Having been a semi-professional dancer myself, I had an insight into an unmet need in the dance world at the time. Dancers are starving artists who require expensive supplies for their craft, and often those supplies (like costumes) are minimally used. A marketplace created by dancers and for dancers would help those who need extra cash and those who need supplies at a discount. At the time this was created (before Instagram was used for promoting individuals and businesses), dancers didn't have a digital hub to promote themselves and find work like the corporate world on LinkedIn, so this website was created to fill this need by bringing dancers and opportunities all to one place.

Dancer's Closet App

Dancers can sell their dancewear in the app. The simplicity of the interface takes into consideration the time-consuming lifestyles of dancers by allowing them to quickly and easily upload new items, as well as search for items they can purchase from others.

Dancer's Closet Website

On the website, dancers can promote themselves and companies can search for them. Users are provided with a resume built into their profile page, so all they have to do is simply add information. Companies can post jobs and auditions, in which users can search for via the job search option on the right side of their newsfeed. This site provides dancers and companies the ability to communicate more efficiently, as well as create a community of dancers immersed in the culture and lifestyle.
